Students enrolled April 2021
Welcome to the Global Road Safety Leadership Course: Initiative Partners. This course has been created for people who work as part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
The goal of this course is to introduce personnel working within BIGRS to the key concepts underpinning evidence-based road safety interventions. The course takes a comprehensive systems approach to road safety and outlines the key road traffic fatal and serious injury risk factors, the evidence-based interventions required to address these risks, and the way in which the different elements of the transport system must be addressed in combination to save lives on the road.
Through this online course, you will gain an understanding of historical aspects relating to the development of the road safety field, including key theoretical approaches to addressing road crashes, and will build upon your specific technical knowledge to understand how this relates to and intersects with the full range of elements within the Safe System Approach to improving road safety outcomes. You will also learn about specific examples of road safety interventions in low- and middle-income countries and learn from practitioners who have implemented these programs, which will allow you to draw from their experience to inform your own approach to improving road safety.
